A few weeks ago I had the
great pleasure of finally meeting Jim Duggins and Tom Watson, two of the
organizers of Loreto's "Fishin for the Mission" tournament.
While making arrangements to take photos of the tournament for their
website, I mentioned wanting to take some aerial photos of Tripui. It
turned out that Tom is a pilot and had flown down to Loreto in his
Bonanza...and he had to fly to La Paz to pick someone up the following day
and invited me to go along. Unfortunately it was an unusually overcast day
so the photos aren't great, though the flight was breathtaking.
Tom did a couple of low
circles over Tripui, enabling me to take the new shot on my Tripui webpage
(www.findsiri.com/tripui). We left Loreto around 8am, flew to La Paz, had
breakfast at the airport (a fresh shrimp omelet--find that at LAX!),
picked up Tom's friend and were back in Loreto by noon. Not a bad way to
spend a morning!
I'm currently working on a new
webpage with photos of the tournament itself, but hope you enjoy some
shots from the flight in the meantime:
1. Loreto Airport 2. Somewhere
between Loreto and La Paz (flying south)! 3. Somewhere between La Paz and
Loreto (flying north)! 4. Puerto Escondido: a beautiful port surrounded by
mountainous islands south of Loreto
Back Soon,
Siri
