Greetings!

I have just returned to Loreto after 2 glorious weeks of vacation! I spent the first week exploring and taking photos in northern Baja, and the second week back "home" visiting my Mom.

Although Loreto to Charleston is quite a trip to make for only a week, a few things made it absolutely worthwhile. First of all, Mom and I were able to make a quick road trip to the mountains of North Carolina. My Mom has purchased a lot in Black Mountain, and the first logs have just gone up on her cabin. It was my first time seeing the property, and the view is just spectacular. We spent the night with close family friends and I met the newest addition to their family for the first time.

The other wonderful part of my trip was seeing my friend Garth. Many of you know that Garth and I grew up together on tiny Sullivan's Island, then both ended up in New York many years later where we became reacquainted (and ended up designing my website--he is my webmaster). He now lives in London, but was home visiting his parents so we got to catch up in person.

On my long travel day back to Loreto I had a few hours layover in Loreto, so my friend Dinah (aka Grace) picked me up and took me to lunch at my favorite college restaurant. What a great way to spend a layover--thanks, Dinah!

I have lots of catching up to do now that I'm back, including some belated Travelogues. For now, here's a photo with Mom and and a promise that there's more in the works.
