Road Trip: Loreto to San Diego

Greetings!

I am often amazed at how quickly time and life zip by. I find myself torn between relaying my latest adventures and catching up on the seriously belated ones!

Truth be told, one of the most exciting recent events was meeting Mexico's First Lady in the tiny village of San Javier...very surreal. Photos of Senora Fox to come, but first I want to share links to 2 recent webpages with road trip photos. I originally planned to send separate Travelogues for the northbound and southbound trips, but since I'm short on time I'm including both links here.

Baja Road Trip

740 spectacular miles, winding through charactered mountains splashed with the sun's colors or gazing down at the peaceful azure waters (of both the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean).

It is truly difficult to describe this drive, there is so much to take in that I found myself in sensory overload. I wanted to stop and take photos so many times--I would round a corner to a fantastic view and have to talk my foot back onto the gas pedal and remember the limits of daylight.

I took lots of notes along the drive, mostly of places I wanted to stop and take photos. On the trip back south, I did my best to plan my breaks at those same scenic points. Of course most of Highway 1 is just 2 narrow lanes with little or no shoulder (and frequently missing guardrails around steep mountain curves), and the prettiest views are often the most difficult to access. Nonetheless, I believe that I found some of the best "parking places" along the way!

Come along for a vicarious road trip...

 - See the Northbound part of the trip.

 - See the Southbound part of the trip.

Back Soon,

Siri
