I'm happy to report that I'm back in Loreto -- 0% chance of either snow or a terrorist attack! Tranquil Loreto is located about 2/3 of the way down Mexico’s Baja peninsula, nestled between the towering Sierra de la Giganta mountains and the azure Sea of Cortez. The natural beauty of Loreto is complimented by a rich culture and long history, including the first Jesuit mission, Nuestra Senora de Loreto. Spending so much time in Loreto has enabled me to learn about, experience and truly appreciate the setting and culture. After quite a long process, I finally obtained my working visa and am having fun tour-guiding, doing custom photography and generally keeping my ears and options open! I hope you'll explore this site and check back periodically for new updates and photos.
Happy Vicarious Travels...

See a Map of Mexico
Visiting Mom in South Carolina for 2 glorious weeks of vacation.
See more from Summer 2004 in SC
I spent most of the summer in S.C. helping my Mom move into a new house (glad that's over!). I really enjoyed visiting Mom and catching up with my grandparents-both Nona and Papa who live here, and my Mom's mom who came to visit from southern California. I finally took CPR and 1st Aid classes and have a well-supplied 1st aid kit so I'm better prepared for guiding tours in remote areas. Perhaps my biggest news is my birthday present from Mom - a fancy new digital camera that I'm itching to experiment with when I return to Loreto (hopefully in late October). Stay tuned to see if I fly or have an epic road trip!

In November 2003, I drove from Charleston, South Carolina back to Loreto, BCS, Mexico with my friend Ester (who was visiting from Barcelona). We managed to drive 3,580 miles in only 7 days and even snuck in a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon!
